This year I am proper excited for Christmas. It’s the first year W has any idea what’s going on so I’m already enjoying the build-up… he loves Christmas trees and lights, and has a good understanding of what Santa’s about!
So it was lovely yesterday to meet the big man himself at the launch of Santa’s post office in Cardiff Bay. (He isn’t usually at Santa’s post office – he was only there for the launch!)
W got to tell him what he’d like for Christmas (choo choo trains) and what his baby brother would like (milk and cars!).
They have a big table where the children can write and decorate their letters to Santa – W enjoyed using all the stamps! Santa’s elves are on standby to help.

When the letter’s ready to go, you pop it in the postbox and press the button to watch the letter travel to Santa in Lapland – a really cute touch! Even cuter is that we’ll get a letter back from Santa before Christmas – can’t wait for W to get that!
You can find the Post Office in the centre of Mermaid Quay (in the row of shops) it’s open every weekend in December and the best thing is it’s free! They are collecting money for the Tenovus cancer charity.
As it was a launch event it was nice to briefly meet other local bloggers and their children: Cardiff mummy says, Kelly Allen, Welsh mummy blogs and We made this life. I say briefly as by that point W was clambering over all the Christmas displays so off we went for a walk…
We walked past the boats and ducks of Cardiff Bay and headed to the Wales Millenium Centre (W pointing out the ‘beach’ on the way which was there about 6 months ago – he has a great memory!)
W loves running around the lobby there – I haven’t been in there for ages so was nice to see a couple of Roald Dahl displays including tortoise fishing! And W loved the Christmas trees in there.
They were setting up for Santa’s grotto in there which we went to last year – a fantastic free and bilingual service!
So avoid Cardiff city centre crowds this Christmas… and save your pennies… write a letter to Santa in his special Post Office then head over to see him at the WMC, both for free!
